Volunteers for Bay d’Espoir Kitty Rescue frequent a local garbage dump to help community cats that have found their way there. When they arrived late last month, they were shocked by what they discovered.
Two volunteers heard what sounded like a kitten crying hysterically in the woods. They called out to her and waited until they saw a tiny head emerge from the pit. Since they never saw the kitten the evening before, they believe she had been abandoned within the past 24 hours.
“Luckily, she’s very vocal and can be easily heard when crying,” Sandra, one of the rescuers, shared on Facebook.

The kitten crawled through the garbage pile to follow a stranger’s voice. Once she spotted the rescuers, she dashed towards them, limping through heaps of junk, desperately begging for help.
The little one was incredibly friendly and affectionate, rubbing up against the volunteers and purring nonstop.

That night, the tiny panther named Bean was safe and slept soundly in a comfy bed with a full belly.
Bean was estimated to be ten weeks old and treated for a leg injury through the support of Exploits Valley SPCA. “She was brought to the shelter and sent to the vet due to being unable to bear weight on her front left leg. Luckily, it wasn’t broken,” the SPCA shared.

After receiving thorough exams, she was cleared to go to a home that could monitor her and nurse her back to health. “Bean is the sweetest kitten you can imagine. She purrs as soon as you look at her.”
The little bean insisted on being where her caregivers were, following them into the office and offering gentle purrs and feline wisdom.

Knowing how much she adored people, the shelter staff were determined to find her a family that would cherish and pamper her.
Wendy Thomas, who previously adopted a cat from the SPCA, came across a post about Bean. “We always adopt rescues or those that come to us through happenstance. I found Bean on a local SPCA Facebook page, and she just spoke to my heart,” Wendy shared with Love Meow.

“Much the same as the last cat we adopted from the same shelter, both with leg injuries.” It didn’t take long after contacting the SPCA for them to realize they’d found the perfect match.
Bean quickly settled into her new home and was greeted by her new feline brothers who were ecstatic to have a kitten to play with.
Bean has found her forever homeWendy Thomas
“She loves to play in boxes and the little kitty play house and has taken over the top spot on the cat tower. She is still very possessive over food, having had to fight for it during her time at the dump, but she is learning there is lots to go around.”
With good food and plenty of TLC, Bean’s front leg is improving, getting closer to a full recovery each day.
She loves her big family and enjoys basking in the sunlightWendy Thomas
She enjoys bird watching and basking in the sunlight and will soon join the rest of the feline crew on their adventures together.
A little while ago, Bean ran to the kind rescuers and leaped into their arms. Now, she’s thriving in her forever home with a big family that adores her to bits.
