These carrot bone broth frozen dog treats are easy to make. Carrots and dog-friendly bone broth are the only ingredients you need.
Are Carrots Safe Dog Treats?
As I discussed in this post: Can Dogs Eat Carrots? (Yes, Yes They Can!), dogs can enjoy carrots as a nutritious and safe substitute for store-bought dog treats. Carrots are a great source of beta-carotene and vitamin A. Also, carrots contain quercetin, a natural pigment present in many fruits and vegetables. The presence of quercetin in carrots can help dogs with seasonal allergies.
Is Bone Broth Safe for Dogs?
Yes, bone broth is safe for dogs and is considered to be a superfood you can add to your dog’s diet.
Bone broth is simply “a stock liquid made from slowly cooking animal bones at low heat for an extended period.
You can make your own homemade dog-friendly bone broth or purchase store-bought bone broth for dogs. See the “Substitution” section below for different types and options for store-bought bone broth for dogs.
Bone broth provides many benefits, like helping improve your dog’s digestive health. The essential nutrients in bone broth can enhance your dog’s immune system.
Also, “the collagen in bone broth contributes to the health and stability of your dog’s joints,” plus helps in maintaining your dog’s healthy skin and coat.
How much bone broth do I give my dog?
A common question that many dog owners wonder is: How much bone broth do I give my dog? Most dog-friendly bone broths will have their recommended serving per dog’s weight on the back of their packaging.
I use this recommended guidance in serving of bone broth for dogs:
2 tablespoons of bone broth for 10 lbs.
1/4 cup of bone broth for 10 lbs. to 25 lbs.
1/2 cup of bone broth for 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.
3/4 cup of bone broth for 50 lbs. to 75 lbs.
1 cup of bone broth for 75 lbs. and up lbs.
Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth
For this recipe, I used powdered bone broth from Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth with Mighty Mushrooms
What I like about Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth is that it includes additional immune-enhancing mushrooms as ingredients: reishi, turkey tail, maitake, and shiitake.
