Welcome! My name is Jessica and I have been boarding Dachshunds, and small dogs, in my home for over 10 years.
I’d love to be your pup’s home away from home!
Read on to see what makes me different and what your dog’s stay with me will be like.

“Jessica was fantastic! She takes the time to ask a lot of questions to be sure she understands your dog and its’ needs and behaviors. She has dachshunds of her own, which is great because she truly understands the breed and is patient with their ween-isms. She’s communicative and thoughtful, sent us pictures and videos so we wouldn’t miss him too much, and gave us a kind and helpful download on his stay when we picked him up. Our pup had so much fun playing and hiking on his own little vacation! My only complaint is that now our dog is depressed, because he’d rather be hanging out at Jessica’s playing with her dogs than here at home with his boring parents. :)” – Heather G. What Makes Me Different
I’m not your average dog sitter – or, technically, dog boarder.
Here are a few of the things that make me different:
- I only care for 1-2 Dachshunds at a time outside of my own pack.
- I supervise, engage with, and love on your dog as close to 24-7 as possible.
- I’ve spent over 100 hours learning about dog body language, dog interactions, behavior, and training.
- I have over 15 hours of pet first aid training, including handling emergencies when you’re not close to a veterinarian.
- I have experience caring for IVDD dogs in recovery, including providing home laser treatments, preforming rehab exercises, and I am comfortable expressing bladder/bowels.
- I specialize in long-term stays. (some clients have stayed with me for up to 6 weeks at a time!)
- I am the author of the award-winning blog YouDidWhatWithYourWiener.com and have been studying the Dachshund breed full-time for over 10 years.
- Unless requested otherwise, I will send you a daily update with a photo or video.
- I observe your dog’s behavior and needs in an unfamiliar setting. At the end of your dog’s stay, you receive a 20-minute minimum consult about your dog’s behavior, additional potential needs, and training tips.
- I carry daycare and boarding insurance, with expanded coverage for client’s pets, through Pet Sitters Associates (policy #3ED4168).

Her home is catered to the ease and enjoyment of the dogs which is so amazing and definitely was appreciated. From start to finish, we loved our experience with Jessica!” – Ashley B, Tilly’s Mom
What Your Dog’s Stay is Like
When a Doxie stays with me in my home, they are treated as one of my own.
I try to maintain as much of your dog’s normal routine as I can as I care for them alongside my three Dachshunds – Gretel, Summit and Otter.
- I let your pup sleep in my bed if they are used to sleeping with you.
- I work from home so your Dachshund won’t be left alone for long periods and I can tend to their needs as they arise.
- I have a securely-fenced yard your dog can run and play in (supervised).
- I provide frequent potty breaks as often as needed when I am home.
- We cuddle in the evenings on the couch when we are not gone on adventure.
- I am patient and work with each dog’s personality to make sure their stay here, and interaction with other dogs in the house, is as fun as possible.
- Daily enrichment is provided in the form of games, walks, and short adventures around home.
Our daily schedule when at home looks something like this.

“My doggy had the time of his life with Jessica and her dogs. We will definitely bring him back there! Cannot say enough about how much Jessica does to make certain the dogs are happy, entertained and comfy!“
Included adventures
When your dog stays with us, they become a part of our family and enjoy the same lifestyle that my own dogs do.
For example, I run a big Dachshund club in Seattle called the Adventureweiner Club, and your dog may come with us to events.
I also try to walk my dogs for a minimum of 30 minutes at least 4 days a week. Your pup will go on these walks with us or I will walk them separately if needed.
I always check beforehand to make sure I have your permission for these “daily life” adventures, and make changes to my schedule if your dog doesn’t like riding in the car, meeting other people and dogs, etc..
Add-ons to your dog’s stay
In addition to your dog’s stay in my home, you can add on services for an extra fee.
These include:
- Pick up and drop off service (book on Rover with your stay)
- Basic obedience training or reinforcing of behaviors
- half or full-day hikes
- Camping trips
- Semi-professional photos
If you’re interested adding hiking or camping to your dog’s stay, please email me at Jessica(at)pettalkmedia(dot)com before or after you book on Rover.
About Me
I started my own business back in 2012, specifically so I could spend more time with my Dachshunds.
Since then, I have spent hundreds of hours studying the Dachshund breed, have grown this blog to one of the premier, trusted resources for Dachshunds on the internet, and founded the largest Dachshund social meetup club in Washington State.
I choose to specialize in Dachshunds because:
- I absolutely love the breed. I don’t think I could ever NOT have one of these cute, funny little dogs in my life.
- Dachshund owners just get other Dachshund owners. Dachshund owners treat their pets like family and worry sick when they are away from them. I get it and am cool with that. I’m happy to send as many pics and status updates as you want while you’re gone.
- I understand the Dachshund personality. Dachshunds have very unique mannerisms and traits and not a lot of dog sitters in Seattle understand that.
- I have experience with IVDD, back injuries, and other medical needs of Dachshunds. I can provide care just for them just like you would at home.
I live just outside of the Seattle area in the mountains of the Central Cascades with my husband and three miniature Dachshunds – Gretel, Summit, and Otter.
When I’m not kissing dogs or working, you’ll find me traveling, hiking, and camping with my Dachshunds.
